Anniston Star July 19, 1962
A freak accident Wednesday afternoon sent Clifton Pate of Delta, Rt. 1, to the 
Clay County Hospital with bruises of the legs and hips. Pate incurred the bruises 
when the horse on which he was riding suddenly fell dead in his tracks, pinning 
him down. A group picnicking nearby rescued the young man when they heard his 
calls for help and then rushed him to the hospital. Examination revealed no 
broken bones.
