He was Robert H. Pittard, 63 of near Ashland. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna Campbell Pittard; one son and one daughter. Mr. Pittard left his home about 10 o'clock Saturday morning to hunt for wild honey in the mountainous country about nine miles northwest of Ashland. When he had failed to return by 6 o'clock that evening his anxious family launched a search for him which was joined by about 100 residents of that community. Late Saturday night about 11 o'clock his badly burned body was found near the Campbell's crossroads community. He apparently was surrounded by the briskly burning forest fire. In his hand searchers found the burned remains of a piece of pine brush with which he had tried to fight off the flames. Only his rubber boots, had resisted the fierce blaze which had trapped and killed Mr. Pittard. Funeral services were conducted from the Campbell Springs Church of Christ at the Campbell Crossroads.
