Anniston Watchman December 22, 1885
Mr. Richard McClintock, a good honest gentleman and an excellent farmer who lives 
near Delta, in Clay County, has been sorely troubled of late on account of having 
all his crop and stock sold out by those to whom he was indebted, and who would 
show him no mercy. His troubles so preyed upon his mind, that during a fit of 
temporary insanity on Monday morning, he attempted suicide by cutting his own 
throat with a razor. He was still alive yesterday morning, but there are little 
hopes.
