Walter Smith of Delta Route 1 has a pair of homemade fire-tongs that have seen 100 years of service. They were made by his grandfather Billy Smith and are still in perfect condition. While plowing in the field about 20 years ago, he found an old clay pipe that his great grandmother smoked. He had seen her smoke it numbers of times and immediately recognized it. If his great grandmother were living today, she would be 110 years old. Mr. Smith has an old spinning wheel and three chairs that were used during and after the War Between the States. He has an old Indian stone that slants down on two sides to an edge that evidently was used in treating skins. He has had this for a great many years. Also, he has the Bible his great grandfather used as a minister.
