At this reunion there were present more than 140 persons, most of them being relatives of the family. Mr. Sparks was a Confederate soldier, and came home from the war in 1865, with no means and no one helped him. But with a determination to succeed, he set to, work to make a good citizen; and how well he has succeeded is attested by the unanimous verdict of his friends and neighbors. His word is his bond, and he enjoys the respect and confidence of all who know him. In all his efforts he has been ably seconded by his faithful and devoted wife, whom he married Nov. 11, 1866, since which date, they have lived on the same place. They are noted for their honesty and thrift, their love of home and country, and their fidelity to the interest of the church. Both have for a long time Both have been consistent members of Providence Primitive Baptist Church. They have, reared a large and honorable family of children, having eight sons and three daughters, having and all married and owning their own homes. They have fifty-one grandchildren and forty- six great grandchildren. Nine of their sons and daughters live in the immediate neighborhood of their parents; one son and one daughter live in North Alabama All present enjoyed the day, which was spent in social converse, in songs and talks suitable for the occasion; and especially the splendid and sumptuous dinner which was furnished by the children. After dinner E.J. Garrison, Rev. W. A. Worthy, Mack Johnson, and Rev. Walter Denny made short talks, expressing to Mr. and Mrs. Sparks, and family, the good wishes and esteem of all present. All present seemed to enjoy the day to the fullest extent wishing for Mr. and Mrs. Sparks, many more years of joy and happiness. E. J.
