Eds. Adv: The storm which passed near Shelby Springs on the 20th inst., followed almost the precise track of the one of last November, going some four miles north of this place. Its effects were awful. Trees and houses were levelled with the earth, and whole farms were stripped of their fencing, which was scattered over the country whilst furniture, beds and bedding, and clothing were destroyed, or blown off to be seen no more. The strength of the tornado was appalling, exceeding anything ever witnessed in this region, but fortunately, its track was narrow. Many farmers declare it impossible to place their farms in a fit state for cultivation for the present year. So far as I have yet near a no lives were lost, though many persons were injured, more or less, by the falling timber and house cattle and horses were also killed. J. D. B.
