(Nancy) Summerlin celebrated her birthday at her home. Mrs. Summerlin's daughter, Mrs. R.A. Daugherty, lives with her. Mrs. Summerlin enjoying having the politicians visit her home and always eagerly discusses politics with them. She has voted in each election since woman were allowed the privilege to vote and exercised her political views even before she could vote. She goes the two or three tittles to vote in Beat 1 at the Delta Precinct and always makes her own decisions for whom she will vote. Mrs. Summerlin was born in Clay County May 4, 1868, and has resided here all her life. She has lived in the Shiloh Delta Community for the past 53 years but visits occasionally with her children elsewhere but always returns to her home near Delta. She has spent all her life on farm and enjoys the freedom that farm life offers a person. Mrs. Summerlin is small in stature and only weighs 110 pounds but is in good health and in very mentally and physically alert. She is a very lovely and gracious lady and quite a favorite person in the community. Mrs. Summerlin did her own housework until two years ago when her daughter moved into the home with her. She continues to assist her daughter with the housework. Her husband died 21 years since his death, she maintained her own home until her daughter moved into the home with her. Mrs. Summerlin attends the Christian Church regularly during the summer-months where she has been a member since she was a small girl. She also enjoys attending Sacred Harp singings and still leads the songs quite graciously. Five of Mrs. Summerlin's six children spent Sunday with her and several of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to enjoy the occasion with her. Her children are Mrs. R. A. (Ola) Daugherty, Rt. 1, Delta. Mrs. Willie (Cora) Smith. Oxford. Russell Summerlin, Rt. .1, Delta, Bill Summerlin, Anniston, Mrs. Cecil (Mattia) Teel. Millerville. and Mrs. Woodie (Nettle) Morrison, Oxford. She has 14 grandchildren. great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
