The getaway was made while the prisoners were taking a bath on the first floor. the opening in the wall being made with a piece of from the bathtub equipment. Much noise was made by the prisoners in order to smother the sound made while the opening was being forced. Soon after the escape Leon Kirk, a sixteen-year-old boy, captured one of the negros in a thicket near town and brought him into town. Another was recaptured later in the day. Additional Comments: Manse Wood was captured later and sent to prison in Aug-1922.
