E. Tread-well who resides three miles east of town, was accidentally shot with a pistol in the hands of his brother. The ball passed through his hand and entered his bowels, lodging in one of the large intestines. The wound inflicted was a very painful one. An operation was performed by Drs. Gay and Northen and the ball removed. The boys, aged about 17 and 18 respectively, were at the barn making an examination of the pistol which the older one had bought that day. The older boy had extracted all the cartridges, as he thought, and was showing his brother how easily it would snap when the pistol fired with result as stated. Only the same old tale of didn't know that it was loaded and another awful example of what a dangerous thing a pistol is in the hands of boys.
