When Mr. C. J. Hamlin opened the cell in which they were confined to give them their breakfast they made a break for the opening and attempted to land Mr. Hamlin on the inside of the cell, obviously intending to leave him fastened up. Failing in this undertaking they ran past him, made a hasty exit through the outer door and ran for the woods just north of town, but were soon overtaken.
