Phillips, two white men, were brought into this city last night and taken to the St. Vincent hospital as result of injuries received in a smash- up between two hand cars near Ashland Ala. John Hobbs, a helper, was killed in the accident, and his remains were taken to Anniston, it appears that the two hand cars came together on a trestle near Ashland, on the Louisville and Nashville railroad. Amrein had both legs cut off and was badly injured about the head. Phillips was badly injured about the hands, shoulder and head. Phillips was running the car, which smashed into another car in front.
