The blow struck as a new cold spell was moving on the city, with the weatherman predicting freezing temperatures here tonight. Winds reached a velocity of 25 miles an hour here, but caused no noteworthy damages, according to reports. Henry Garrett 35, trapped in the wreckage of his father-in-law's home, was dead when neighbors pulled him from the debris shortly after midnight. Garrett and his wife, who was also injured, were spending the night with her father, George Robertson, approximately a mile north of Cragford. Mr. and Mrs. Robertson are not expected to live, and seven children in the Robertson family were also severely injured, reports stated. The Robertson home was the only one destroyed by the tornadic wind in that section. Heavy rains fell throughout Eastern Alabama, accompanied by lightning. Town Marshall R. L. Powell, of Lineville said storm damage was confined to the farming area five to 10 miles southeast of Lineville. Several farm homes were damaged, he said. Additional Comments: Note: George Robertson died about a year later. His wife Ida died in 1952. Henry Garrett, George Robertson and Ida Robertson are all buried in New Harmony Cemetery, Cragford, AL.
