Clay County Watchman May 21, 1886
A sad accident befell the family of Mr. E. R. Wood Tuesday. Three of his boys 
were in the blacksmith shop near the house, and during the rain fall, lightning 
struck the shop, and shocked the young men severely. One of them has since died, 
but it is thought that the other two will get well. The bereaved family have our 
sympathy in this extremity. We hope to hear that the other boys will soon 
recover.
