She is Mrs. Frances E. Wright, of Crag- ford, who is nearing her 96th birthday. Recently she was invited by Mrs. Rudd, home agent, to enter a national contest. She did and was scored second. The winner has passed her 96th birthday. When she was only 16 years old. she was married to John Wright. Eleven children were born to them. Today she has nine living children, 34 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Two daughters, ages 62 and 67 live at home with her. The sons and daughters who live nearby cut wood, kill and dress the hogs, plow the garden and do other work, but otherwise. Mrs. Wright and the two daughters do all of their work. Mrs. Wright spend much time gardening, canning and cooking for her family. She enjoys piecing quilts. Her greatest pleasure, however, is in entertaining company, especially youngsters who enjoy hearing her tell of the days when she worked in the field to grow cotton which she spun and wove into cloth and made clothes for herself and family. The house in which Mrs. Wright lives has been her home for 50 years. Its clean, neat, orderly arrangement indicates the system with which Mrs. Wright does things. A look into the storage pantry shows that she is a good provider, jars and jars of canned goods, hams, bacon, syrup and potatoes, are reads for appetizing meals. For almost 96 years Mrs. Wright has lived a life of usefulness. Through the hardships of the early years, her only thought was the comfort and happiness of her family. When her husband a Confederate soldier was serving in the Army, she conducted and managed their farm and business. Throughout the years and with each succeeding generation she has kept up the same fine interest in improvements that many much younger people have failed to do. New methods of cooking, canning, and home improvement have been received gladly by her. Mrs. Rudd proclaims her worthy of the greatest honor which can be bestowed noble woman and loving mother.
