He professed Christ at the age of seventeen and joined the Methodist church at Pleasant Hill. About two years later he united with the Baptist church and at his death was a prominent member of the same and a regular attendant in our Sunday school at Delta. He was also a prominent member of several secret orders to wit: Mason, Eastern Star, K. of P. and W. 0. W., al! of which he greatly enjoyed, but among these orders Masonry had great preference with him. He was made a Mason at Delta Lodge No. 459 several years ago... On the 5th day 0f April 1905 he was united in the holy bonds of wedlock to Miss Lena, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. O. D. Carter. This indeed was a happy union which could only be separated by death which occurred on the morning of Aug. 29th, 1912 at 8 o'clock.... His last remains were interred in Delta Cemetery...... A.R. Stephens, I.J. Miller, T.J. Dulin.
