Armstrong died at Bay Minette, Alabama, March the home J. M. Armstrong, age 85 years 9 months and 21 days. He was born June 4th, 1819, near Anderson S.C., came with his father and family to Ala. A. 1839 with whom he lived until his marriage to Miss Synitha J. Smith this happy union there was born five children, one son and all living and blessing world except one daughter, who proceeded her father to the horns of the blessed about one year. Having the misfortune to lose his wife, he was married the second time to Mrs. Nancy E. Leverett (nee) Stripling by whom he had three children. All his children are pious Christians. This servant of the Lord was left companionless again in 1902. Brother Armstrong joined the Baptist church at Bethel, Fish-head Valley. Served said church as a faithful deacon the remainder of his life, never a blemish upon character, a model Christian, wise in the Scriptures, spiritually a loving father, and stepfather; he raised one stepson, J. M. Leverett of Lineville who is equal of his own children able to help the needy generous and benevolent leading in every worthy interprise and was in the fullest sense, a peace maker, his advice and counsel (not only the church) but in the surrounding country was sought and accept.
