The Enterprise-Chronicle
A six-year-old child was killed Saturday in the yard of her home at Goodwater. 
Rt. 2. when she fell from a truck and was crushed under the wheels. Mary Lou 
Baird, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Baird, was the victim. A witness said her 
brother was driving a lumber truck a short distance in the yard of their home 
and had stopped to pick up some other children. The child was thrown from the 
truck and fell under the wheels. The father said the children were accustomed to 
riding on the truck from the road to the house. Funeral services were held 
Monday from the Rock Springs Baptist Church. Burial was in the adjoining 
cemetery, Radney of Alexander City directing. Surviving are the parents; three 
brothers, Wesley. John and Russell: four sisters, Orail, Ruth, Linda and Alice 
Baird, all of Goodwater, Rt. 2.
