Lineville Headlight
Mr. S. C. Barfield peacefully passed at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
J. H. Barfield, last Sunday morning after a long illness. The funeral services 
were held from the Lineville Baptist church at 11:00 o'clock Monday morning and 
were conducted by Rev. F.J. Ingram and J. H. Oakley. The interment was in the 
Lineville cemetery. The deceased was 32 years old on January 9th, was a member 
of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist church at Barfield and was a yong of exemplary 
habits. While in his 25th year he was compelled to resign on account of the 
malady, diabetes, which resulted in his death and his brother, J.0. Barfield was 
appointed by the Governor to fill his unexpired term. The deceased was the 
youngest Tax Collector Clay County ever had and one of the most efficient. A 
host of friends throughout the county mourn with Mr. and Mrs. Barfield and their 
children in the bereavement that has befallen them in the death of this 
excellent young man.
