Brother. Y. J. A. Bartlett was born April 20th, 1816, in Stewart County, Ga., and died home in Lineville. Ala Nov. 18, 1908. Early in life he moved to Lee County, Ala., where he had the misfortune to lose his right arm in a railroad accident. Later in life when a young man he came to this (Clay) county, then known as Randolph County. and when about 18 years old he professed faith in Christ and joined. Mt. Prospect Baptist church. On the 20th day of Dec 1866, he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Hayes. a Christian woman who had joined the same church. Their marriage was blessed with six girls, two of whom (Ethel and Anna) preceded their father into the Beautiful Beyond. Brother Bartlett leaves a Christian wife. Four Christian's daughters, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death on earth, but they sorrow not as those who have no hope in Christ, but with blessed assurance they look forward to that day when they will meet him in that great reunion above, where death, sadness and sorrow enter not. He lived a consistent Christian life, being gentle, mild, and patient both in his life work and in his sickness unto death, and by his daily walk and true integrity of manhood he gained the love and respect of all who knew him. At the time of his death, he was clerk of his church. We thank God for his life and realize that our loss is his eternal gain. May God's blessings rest upon the entire family, and many the Holy Spirit comfort the hearts of those bereaved, is the prayer of their pastor and church. J. P. Shaffer, W. T. Davis, R. A.
