Ashland Progress
Will Benson, a negro, was shot by George Wood, another negro, on the southern 
outskirts of Ashland Sunday night. From reports it seems that the two negroes, 
with several others, were going home from church when they became engaged in an 
altercation which resulted in the shooting. The Benson negro is shot in the 
breast and his recovery has been considered doubtful, but he was still living 
according to last reports. His assailant has been placed in jail.
