Ashland Progress
Nathan L. Birchfield a well-known citizen of the county, died at his home in the 
Bowden Grove community, north of Ashland, Tuesday and his remains were interred 
in Concord cemetery Wednesday. He was about 69 years of age and leaves a wife and 
several children, all of whom are grown. the funeral services was conducted by 
Rev. W. M. Worthy at 11 a. m. a large congregation being present. The deceased 
had been a member of Bowden Grove Baptist Church about 18 years and had a good 
reputation in his community as a citizen and a Christian.
