Ashland Progress
Mrs. Birchfield, wife of J. O. Birchfield, died at her home near Pyriton Tuesday 
after an illness of several months. Funeral services were held Wednesday and her 
remains were interred in Concord cemetery. The funeral was conducted by Revs. C. 
Ray and H. T. McKay. Mrs. Birchfield was the mother of eleven children all of 
whom survive her and attended the funeral, except one son who was killed in an 
accident at the Woodward Mines in Birmingham a few months ago. Mrs. Birchfield 
was the mother of W. McKay of this city.
