Anniston Star
James William Bowen 84, of Cragford, died Wednesday at his residence. Funeral 
services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Cragford United Methodist Church with the 
Rev. Hobart Murphree and the Rev. W. C. Wood officiating. Burial will be in 
Cragford Cemetery with Blair Brown-Service Funeral Home in charge. Survivors 
include his wife, Mrs. Frances Amanda Bowen; a daughter, Mrs. Edith Obera Carter 
of Cragford; four sons, Dock Manuel Bowen of Northport, James William Bowen Jr. 
of Alexander City, the Rev. Robert Leroy Bowen of Fayetteville, N.C., and D. C. 
Bowen of Orlando, two sisters Mrs. Delia Barkley of Fort Payne, and Neva McMutt 
of Chattanooga, Tenn., two brothers, Floyd Bowen of Piedmont, and Henry Bowen of 
Chattanooga; 27 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve 
as pallbearers.
