Grady Birchfield with Rev. Elmer Wheeles assisting, Blair directed the funeral. Mr. Brand died in the home of his son, Howard Brand, on July 23 following a long illness. He was 72 years, 8 months and 12 days old. He is survived by three sons and four daughters. The surviving sons are Howard Brand and Alvin Brand of Ashland and L. V. Brand of Talladega. The daughters are Miss Vista Brand of Alexander City and Mrs. Ceylon Hallman of Talladega, Mis. Fred Wiley of Cropwell and Mrs. W. A. Baker of Cragford. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jim Powell, Hoyt Powell, Glover Powell, Dewey Powell, Odis Wright and Phares Lowery. Out of town relatives were Dave Brand and daughter, Dorothy, of Meridian, Miss., Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Brown of Clanton, Mr. and Mrs. S. G.
