Ashland Progess
Mrs. Buna Brand, 39, of 400 Court Street, Talladega, died early Saturday morning 
at the Citizens Hospital after a brief illness. She was a spinner in the 
spinning department and had been employed there since February 1942. She is 
survived by her husband, L. V. Brand, one son, Leonard, one daughter, Carolyn, 
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Robinson and family, of Ashland, Rt. 3, one 
sister, Miss Kate Robinson, Bemiston, three brothers, Arnold, of Talladega, Rt. 
4, Jesse and Malcolm, of Ashland, Rt. 3. Funeral services were held Sunday 
afternoon at 3 o'clock at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Clay County., the Church 
that Buna joined in 1927. and her church letter was still at this place. The 
preachers officiating were Rev. Elmer Wheeles and Rev. Grady Birchfield, Rev. 
Leon Browning with Judge Nolen and Rev. Hershell Yates conducting the singing. 
The visiting preachers were Rev. C. R. Harrington, Rev. Dock Harris, and Rev. 
Dock Burdette. A host of people attended this funeral. Interment was in the 
adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff McCain, Glen McCain, Talmadge McCain, 
Henry Richardson, Marvin Foverest and William Jones.
