Ashland Progress
Mrs. Emma Brand, wife of B. H. Brand, died suddenly at her home in the Salem 
community on the morning of Nov. 20th. Although her health had not been good for 
some time her death was a shock to her family and neighbors. She was 54 years of 
age and besides the husband, she is survived by three sons and four daughters, 
six brothers and two sisters. The sons are Howard and Alvin of Millerville, Route 
1; and L. V. of Talladega. The daughters are Misses Queenie, Vista, Ceylon and 
Emma Lou Brand of Ashland, Route 2. Funeral services were held Thursday at the 
Millerville Methodist church conducted by Rev. Kaylor. Interment was in the 
Millerville cemetery, Blair in charge. Pallbearers were her six brothers, Bascom, 
Jay, Earl, Jack, Wiley and Frank Love
