Services for Ross Jordan Brand 63, of Ashland will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at 
Benefield Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Sims officiating. Burial will be in Mt. 
Gilead Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 9 at the 
funeral home. Mr. Brand died Thursday at his home. Survivors include his wife. 
Opal Brand of Ashland; five daughters. Rachel Strickland of Ashland, Lisa 
Roberts of Wadley, Chris Waldrop of Ashland, Teresa Tate of Roanoke and Marlyn 
Roberts of Delta; four sons, Ross Brand Jr., of Ashland, Jimmy Brand of Wadley, 
Robert Thrift of Wadley and Scott Thrift of Roanoke; two sisters, Cordelia 
Parris of Cullman and Myrtle Scarberry of Eporia Kan, two brothers. Luther Brand 
of Oxford and Arnald Brand of Ashland: 16 grandchildren, and two great-
grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Joseph Burdette. Christopher Dav is, Eddie 
Brand, Wayne, Brand. Tommy Brand and Harvey Brand. Mr. Brand was a native and 
life-long resident of Clay County. He had been employed at the Pizza Hut in 
Roanoke and was of the Holiness faith.
