Warrants have been issued for Crosson but so far, we can learn he has not been found. An old grudge is said to have caused the troubles between the men. Crosson is a son-in-law of Brand. The parties live near the Dial old place Fox Creek precinct. Nov 20, 1930, Lineville Headlight: John Brand who was struck over the head last week by his son-in-law, Bruce Crosson with a shotgun, was buried in the Providence Cemetery Saturday. Crosson has not yet been apprehended but is thought to be scouting among kinspeople nearby. Brand lived at the old Dial place in Fox Creek precinct and the affray was near his home wherein he was alleged to have been struck, just what the trouble was all about has not been revealed, but it is alleged that the men were drinking, and the Brands were accused of the theft of whiskey. Lee McCormick was lodged in jail Saturday as an accomplice to the death of Brand. It is said that four or five persons were present when the trouble came about. Feb 26, 1931, Ashland Progress: Several cases of minor importance were disposed of Monday and Tuesday and on Wednesday Brewer Crosson was tried for killing his father-in-law, John Brand, in the northern part of the county, some months ago. The trial consumed most of the d the jury rendered a verdict of second-degree murder and fixed his punishment at ten years in the penitentiary. Additional Comments: .
