Brother Alford Walker Brewer was born March 8th, 1856, and on October 16, 1883, 
he was married to Delanoy Janie Hanson in Clay County, Alabama, he was happy in 
this union, and they were the parents of three sons four girls, all of whom are 
living. On the 7th day of October, the Messenger of Death summoned him. Before 
death claimed him, Brother Brewer stated to his friends he was ready to go and 
that he had only one regret, which was in having to leave his wife and children. 
This was the last testimonial from a most worthy and excellent man, whose loss 
the community regrets; His sickness followed a premonition which he had that his 
death would be soon, for only a few days before his last sickness he stated to 
members of his family that he would soon die. The only church which he had ever 
affiliated with was the Baptist church at Bethel, and the funeral services were 
conducted by ministers of this denomination, at the home of the deceased. Rev. 
W. M. Worthy officiated, and Rev. S. J. Ingram paid a beautiful tribute to the 
memory of the deceased. Many friends were present to hear the touching tribute 
paid to a man whose life was a model as a husband and father, and whole last 
words showed him to have been a Christian man. His remains were laid to rest at 
the old family cemetery near his home on Oct. 9th, Our sympathy is with the wife 
and children of this dear departed brother, and we deplore his loss, and 
sympathize with them in their bereavement.
