Ashland Progress
The body of Howard Brooks, native of Clay County was killed in a mine accident at 
Aslex, Ky., last Friday was brought back to his old home community for interment. 
The funeral being held Tuesday at Mt. Zion church near where he was reared. 
He is said to have been at work underground in a coal mine when, due to the fact 
that the lights had gone out, he was in some way caught by a truck or tram car 
and his neck was broken. He was 39 years of age, was a son of Mrs. J. A. Brooks 
of the Mt. Zion community and is survived by his wife and four children, 3 sons 
and one daughter.
