Brown DIED: in Clay county Ala. June 9th 1892 Mrs. Amanda C. Brown in the 69th year of her age. On the 12th of June the following was adopted by the Sabbath School of Hatchett Creek Presbyterian church: Whereas, for the first time since the organization of this Sabbath School, eight years ago, death has invaded our ranks and has taken from us our much loved sister Mrs. Amanda C. Brown. Mrs. Brown was a daughter of Malcom Patterson, was born in North Carolina in 1823. Moved with her parents to the place where she died. She united herself with this church in Oct. 1887 under the preaching of the late Dr. Rober Nail. She married the Rev. Joseph Brown of Harmony Presbytery N.C. in 1848. Her husband died in 1859 in Marion District, S.C. She removed to Ala. soon after the late war. Her only child, a son, died on just entering into manhood. The bereaved mother and disconsolate widow looked forward to that blessed reunion that shall know no breaking. Though connecting herself with the church so young, yet she gave evidence of a bright hope which continued to grow brighter, her faith never altering until she put on immortality. She was a faithful attendant and teacher in the Sabbath school, her seat was rarely vacant. The house of God was her delight and solace in her declining years. She loved to read from the word of God to her aged stepmother who will take courage from the apparent short space of time when God will take her too up higher to that happy reunion. Resolved that we will strive to emulate the virtues which appeared so prominent in our Sister's christian character. Resolved that the Clay County Advance is requested to publish this paper.
