He enlisted in the Coast Artillery, on July 29th and took his initial training at Ft. Morgan and wrote his parents about the last of September that he was sailing for France. Nothing further was heard from him till the message came from Washington stating that he died of pneumonia, and it presumed that he must have died of transport ship while sailing overseas. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. P. Brown of Route 2 and had many friends in and near Ashland. Additional Comments: Mallard P. Brown was born July 27, 1900, He was the son of W.J.P.
