J. Bunn, one of the very old residents of Ashland died at his home in the western part of town Wednesday night at 8 o'clock. He had been very feeble for a long while, having been confined to his bed for about a year, and his death caused no surprise. Mr. Bunn began his residence in Ashland in the very early history of the town, about the time the first courthouse was being built here, we are told, and had made this his home ever since. He was 88 years old and unmarried. The deceased was a veteran of the Civil War, a member of Co. I, 14th Alabama. He is survived by three brothers, Jim Bunn, of Lincoln, and Jeff and Silas Bunn of this county. Three sisters also survive him, Miss Sallie Bunn, of Ashland, Mrs. Alex Caldwell, of Goodwater and Mrs. Joe Smith, of Heflin. Funeral services Thursday afternoon. Additional Comments: He was buried in the Old Ashland Cemetery, Clay County, AL.
