Ashland Progress
Mrs. W. C. Burgess, a longtime resident of Clay County, passed away at the home 
of her daughter, Mrs. Lonnie Jones, with whom she made her home, in LaGrange, on 
June 26th following brief illness at the age of 81. Funeral services were held on 
June 27th at Shiloh-Lineville Baptist Church, conducted by Reverends Buddy York 
of LaGrange and R. E. Birchfield of Lineville. Survivors include three sons, Rev. 
J.G. Burgess of Atlanta, J. V. of Five Points; R. E. of LaGrange. Five daughters, 
Mrs. Durwood Worthy, Alexander City; Mrs. B. C. Hunt, Lake Hamilton, Mrs. Loomis 
Jones, Mrs. Willard Knight and Mrs. Morris Bice of LaGrange.
