Lineville Headlight
Jesse Harris Burkhead was born in North Carolina March 1, 1814, was married to 
Rhoda Spence Wilson Sept. 19, 1849, in Coweta County, Ga; removed to Arkansas 
about the year 1856 and remained two years; removed from Arkansas to Randolph 
County (now Clay County) Alabama m 1858, having lived at the place where he died 
since the year 1859 until he departed this life on May 5, 1907. He lived, to a 
ripe old age, more than a score years over three score years and ten, the brief 
span allotted to man. He died as he had lived, peacefully and quietly. The 
candle had burned out and the flame of life, which had for so many years shed 
its light and luster upon dear ones and friends, first flickered and then went 
out. At the time of his death Mr. Burkhead was one of the oldest citizens of the 
county, and he was highly esteemed and respected by all who knew him. In this 
death the wife lost a kind and considerate husband, the children a loving and 
dutiful father. The church a strong pillar and support, and the community an 
honorable and-upright citizen. Peace be to his ashes.
