Lineville. Rt. 3. a former recent of Calhoun County, the Highway patrol reported a one-vehicle traffic accident in in Clay County Tuesday afternoon killed Doctor Leon Burt (Doctor is a name, not a title.) Mr. Burt, a disabled World II veteran, was thrown from pickup truck when it went out of control and overturned on a sharp curve of the Pyriton Road 1.6 miles north of Lineville. He was driving alone. He was a native of Clay County but lived several years in the Leatherwood area and at Blue Mountain. Funeral services were to be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon at Union Baptist Church, with the Revs. Dee Hurst and Ervin Strickland officiating, and burial was to be in the adjacent cemetery. Survivors include five sisters, Mrs. Lessie Roberts, Oxford; Mrs. Flora Spurling, Alexandria; Mrs. Florence Bowling and Mrs. Rossie Sprayberry. of Lineville. Rt. 3, and Mrs. Jessie Carr Albany Ga.; one brother, Roy Burt, of Jacksonville; two half-brothers, Chester Burt, of Anniston, and Foster Burt, of Oxford; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Davie Patterson, of Leatherwood, and Mrs. Nellie Reaves, of Anniston.
