T. Campbell was born near Campbell's Crossroads April 23, 1861, and lived in that community until his death. He was married on November 4; 1886, to Miss Camilla Ray who died more than 20 years ago. Mr. Campbell was noted for his industry, his honesty and his loyalty to his friends, his country, his church and his God. His labors as farmer were constant and incessant, and crowned with success. He scorned fraud and dishonesty and was always found on the side of honesty and truth. His friends were many and to them, he was always loyal and considerate; and by them he was held in high esteem. He was always striving to better the condition of his country and was a loyal and constant friend of education and religion. He united with the Methodist church many years ago and was a consistent and faithful member of same until his death; was always found to be a constant and humble follower of his Savior, whom he served until the close of his earthly labors. He was a great lover of music and always enjoyed the singing of the songs in the Sacred Harp. For many years he was justice of the peace, an office he filled with credit to himself and his county. He was a farmer but found time to do other work; for. several years just past, he was a director of the First National Bank of Ashland, in which position he did fine service for the bank and its patrons. In his home life he was kind and considerate, a loving husband, and devoted father; always devoted to his wife and his children he strove to give a cheerful. and comfortable home. Besides he endeavored to give each of his children a good education. He had six children all present at his funeral four boys: John, Ethridge, Hiram and Thurman; and two daughters, Cannie now married to Dr. Mayfield of Tuscaloosa, and Claudia, who devotedly and constantly ministered to her father's comfort during the last years of his life. Mr. Campbell died at his home on April 19, 1943, and was buried April 21, 1943, in the cemetery at Mineral Springs. His body sleeps in the grave, but his spirit has gone to.
