On May 31st death visited the home of our father, Jno. L. Carpenter. and took away from his home his sainted mother at the age of eighty-two years, she was married Jan. 21, 1849, to Reuben L. Carpenter To. this union were born seven children, two boys and five girls, of whom four are lying, viz: John L. Carpenter and Mis. D. H. McCain, of Lineville, Ala., Mrs. J. G. Hudson, of Pyriton, Ala. and Mrs. J. H. Harris, of Holly Pond. Ala; also, thirty-three grandchildren. and sixty-five great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss The funeral services were held at Macedonia church of which she had been a consistent member for sixty-five years. The services were conducted by Elders S. W. Pruet, M. Shaddix. H. H. Goodman, F. J. Ingram and W. T. Davis. An impressive song service .... Her remains were laid to rest in Macedonia Cemetery...
