Ashland Progress
Henry Oscar Carpenter, age 60, died at his home at Highland last Sunday morning 
following a brief illness of pneumonia. The deceased is survived by his wife and 
one son, Wilma Carpenter. Five brothers also survive: R. M. W. Z. T. and Wille 
Carpen ter. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 11 o'clock at Concord 
Baptist church with Revs. F. J. Ingram, S. J. Ingram, B. W. Mathews and J. E. 
Franks taking part. Interment was in the Concord cemetery, Blair in charge. 
Active pallbearers were four brothers, R. L. Carpenter, M. E. Carpenter, W. E. 
Carpenter and Z. Carpenter, and two grandsons, Mansel and Gay Carpenter. Honorary 
pallbearers were T. G. Toland, R. C. Campbell, A. L. Pettus, C. Owens, J. A. 
Beck, O. D. Sparks, J. D. Birchfield, John Carpenter and Alvis Carpenter.
