Harlan Carpenter passed away at his residence about noon on Tuesday, May 24th, after an illness of several years. Final rites will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at Macedonia Church, conducted by Elders B. B. Finley, H. H. Goodman, Beamon Denney and Judge W. B. Nolen. Interment will be in adjacent cemetery with Blair Funeral Home directing. Active pallbearers will be Felton Bolt, Cecil Short, Everett Short, Charlie Morris, Marvin Hendrix, Fred Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be K. J. White, Tommy Gibson, Dr. Geo. Beale, C. M. Pruet E. D. Riley J. W. Baggett, Jeff Carpenter, J. A. Tinney, Shine Busby, Roy Thornell, K. B. Royster Ocie Schoggins. Mr. Carpenter and his wife had operated a store and filling station at their home just south of town for a number of years. He is. survived by his wife, Mrs. Eulie Carpenter, two sons, Clarence of Ashland and Forrest of Umatilla, Fla. Three daughters, Mrs. Reuben Tinney, Ashland; Mrs. Harry Merrill, Umatilla, Mrs. Ruth Brown, Altoona. Three brothers, five sisters and 11 grandchildren.
