Funeral services were held at Talladega Creek Baptist Church on November 18th at 11 o'clock with the Rev. Leon Browning officiating. Interment was in Concord Cemetery. The deceased was a former Clay County citizen but had lived in Talladega many years. Was a deacon in Talladega Creek Baptist Church and was a great lover of music. Survivors are the wife, one son, Oneal Carpenter, Birmingham; five daughters, Mrs. C. H. Sprayberry, Mrs. T. O. Clark, Mrs. Jim Smith, Mrs. Lena Mae Smith, Mrs. Terry Beverly. His mother, Mrs. Viola Carpenter, Talladega; five brothers, Zackie and Roy Carpenter, Anniston; Arthur and Cecil, Talladega; Barney, Ashland; five sisters, Mrs. Nobie Hallmark, Mrs. Lonnie Haynes, Mrs. Homer Hampton, Talladega; Mrs. Eula Rogers, Iowa; Mrs. Dock Haynes Cullman; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
