J. F. Carter departed this life Sept. 16, 1948, having lived to be around 85 years old. He was well known among his many friends. Bro. Carter was a Mason and served as Treasurer of Weathers Lodge No. 390 for a period of 40 years or more and executed the duties of this office as he did all his duties in the capacity of a most respectable citizen. He was a member of the Baptist Church and very faithful to his duties as a Christian. Be it hereby resolved that we the members of Weathers Lodge No. 390 greatly miss this devoted brother as we have lost a man and member whose valued council was deeply appreciated by all who knew him. Whereas, we have nothing but the deepest of heartfelt sympathy to offer his bereaved family. We can only all of us rely on that great ruler of the universe who can and will fold the strong arm of love around the fatherless and share with them the loss we have all sustained. Whereas we realize this as a great loss to our lodge and community, we can gladly commend to his family and to all people those noble traits and high ideals of which our good brother was possessed.
