Anniston Star
John G. Cheatwood, 40-years-old World War veteran, died at his home in Delta at 1 
o'clock Thurs day morning after an illness of six weeks. Funeral services were 
conducted at 10 o'clock last Friday morning from the Bethel Church near Delta 
with the Rev. Mr. Jones officiating. Interments were in the Bethel cemetery. 
Surviving Mr. Cheatwood are his widow, three sons, Melvin, Johnnie Ray and Billie 
Cheatwood: a daughter, Edna Earl Cheatwood; his father, James Cheatwood; brother, 
Lonnie Cheatwood, and a sister, Mrs. H. L. Merrer, all living in Delta. ' Mr. 
Cheatwood served overseas during the war.
