Ashland Progress
Services for James Norman Childs, resident of Cragford Community were held at 
New Hope Baptist Church, Friday, May 5. Interment was at Lineville New Cemetery. 
Blair Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements. Rev. Charles Jordan and 
Rev. Elmer Wheeles conducted the services. Surviving are the wife, one daughter, 
Miss Gwendolyn Childs, one son, Robert Childs, one brother, L. E. Childs, 
Shawmut, two sisters, Mrs. J. L. Craft, Lineville, Mrs. W.H. Craig, West Palm 
Beach, a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Dewey Edmondson, C. P. 
Cummings, Bill Swann, Barto Mitchell, Aubrey Cummings, W. A. Dunaway. Mr. Childs 
passed away Thursday night while on his way to the Lineville Clinic to see his 
physician. Mrs. Childs and their daughter, Gwendolyn were with him at the time 
of his death. They were in the Shiloh Community a few miles from town.
