She joined the Baptist church, in August 1906. Since that time, she has lived a devoted Christian life. She was a member of the Delta Sunday School and was loved by all who knew her. She was the eldest daughter of Mrs. Dilla Cockrell who was left & widow several years ago. Zella had been in ill health for several months before her death, but she bore her afflictions without a murmur or complaint, and we have every reason to believe that she possessed. The church bell has been tolling for the death of Miss Zella Cockrell. Zella was a member of the Delta Baptist Church and has been a faithful member since she joined two years ago last August. She had been afflicted with consumption for some time and had been confined to her home about 3 months prior to her death. She was 16 years of age.
