Ashland Progress
William W. Cofield of Lineville, Route 2, passed away in the University 
Hospital, Birmingham on September 2 at 2:00 pm.  He is survived by his wife, 
Mrs. Mavis Stewart Cofield; three sons Baron of Oxford; Guy of Birmingham; and 
Stewart of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Harold Steele of Livingston; two 
brothers and seven sisters. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, September 
4 at 2 p.m. from the Barfield Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Ingram a 
lifelong friend and the Rev John Higdon, pastor of the Lineville Baptist Church, 
officiating. Organ music was rendered by Miss Brenda Spurlin.  Active 
pallbearers were A. D. Preston, A. T. Forbus, Frank Bishop, Jeff Hill, Ernest 
Sims and Kaylor Hill, Honorary pallbearers were Arthur Clark and Grady Harris. 
Interment was in the Lineville Cemetery with Blair Funeral Home directing.
