T. Compton passed away Feb. 4, 1954, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Clark and his sister, Mrs. W. L. Bell, where he has lived for the past several years. He had been in ill health for several months. He was born May 29, 1878 in Clay County, having lived here the greater part of his life, he leaves a host of friends to mourn his passing. He was married to Elizabeth Ingram and to this union five children were born, all of whom survive. They are four sons, Mr. Milton Compton, Tuscaloosa, Mr. T. E. Compton, Montgomery, Mr. B. F. Compton, Fall River, Mass., Mr. Billy Compton, Las Crues, New Mexico. One daughter, Mrs. Frances Wallace, Montgomery, two sisters, Mrs. Marcus Mitchell, Delta, and Mrs. W. L. Bell, Lineville; and six grandchildren. The deceased first joined the Lineville Methodist Church then moved his membership to the St. Marks Methodist Church, Montgomery. The funeral was held at the Lineville Methodist Church on Feb. 6th, with Rev. John Weathers, Rev. C. R. Harrington, and Rev. Ernest Knight officiating, Blair directing. Pallbearers were R. H. Hall, Jessie Miller, Rev. O. L. Watts, K. J. Carden, Vernon McVey and R. C. Miller. Interment was in new cemetery. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 219. Among the out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were Messers Clifford and R. D. Ingram and Miss Mary Ingram, Birmingham, Mrs. Byron Ingram, Johnny and Sheldon Ingram, Anniston, Mr. and Mrs. Arel Ingram and Mr. and Mrs. Winford Ingram, Talladega.
