Mrs. Mary Cook died at her home near Cragford Clay County Saturday June 5th at 4 
p.m. Mrs. Cook was born in South Carolina July 14, 1848, came to Alabama with her 
parents Mr. and Mrs. John Carwile deceased, Mrs. Cooks leaves to mourn her death, 
a husband, three daughters, one brother and three sisters all of whom reside in 
Alabama. Two sisters Mrs. Nancy Downing and E.P. Gosdin live in Goodwater. Mrs. 
Cook while in her girlhood days joined the Methodist church and remained a 
faithful church member and Christian woman until the last. The remains were laid 
to rest Sunday after noon at 4:00 o'clock in the Mellow Valley cemetery in the 
presence of a large crowd of friends and relatives who had gathered her to pay 
their last respects to this good and true Christian woman.
