Mr. J.T. Cox has been in a very bad state of health for some, and his mind 
considerably impaired... Last Tuesday morning he went out to where a colored boy 
was making a yoke, and by persua­sion got possession of the boy’s knife. He 
stepped off a few paces...and then commenced cutting his own throat and running. 
He was pursued but not overtaken until he had committed the fatal deed. Mr.
Cox was one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of our county.
