Ashland Progress
Funeral services were conducted for John N. Cruise, age 89, Nov. 30, at the Olive 
Branch Baptist Church. Elder B. B. Finley officiated with Blair Funeral Home in 
charge. Burial was in the Macedonia Cemetery. Mr. Cruise died Monday, Nov. 28th, 
after an illness of several years. He was born in Clay County and had lived here 
all his life. He was a retired farmer of the Olive Branch community where he had 
made his home for many years. Mr. Cruise is survived by his wife, Mrs. Wilma 
Cruise, whom he married 68 years ago; four daughters, Mrs. J. L. Hampton, 
Oakland, Mrs. J. B. Carpenter, Hawthorne, Mrs. Ewart McKay, Roanoke, and Mrs. 
William Fitzgerald, Los Angeles, four sons, E. Cruise and Earnest Cruise, 
Ashland, Grady Cruise, Anniston, and Comer Cruise, Oakland, Calif.
